Entry-level jets are the cheapest way to put a Bahamas trip on a jet. Four to six seats, jet speed on the South Florida crossing, and a modest enough runway requirement to suit a good many island airports.
Typical Aircraft
The Cessna Citation CJ1, Cessna Citation M2, Cessna Citation Mustang CE-510, Cirrus Vision Jet SF50, Eclipse 500, and the Embraer Phenom 100 are among the aircraft we quote most often in this category for Bahamas departures. Which one suits your trip depends on the distance, the number of passengers, the baggage, and the runway at both ends, and we narrow that down with you before quoting.
When This Category Fits a Bahamas Trip
Short crossings from South Florida with a small group, where jet speed matters but the cabin does not need to be large.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Bahamas Patterns We Plan Around
Every flight between the United States and the Bahamas is an international trip. Everyone on board needs a valid passport, your first landing in the country has to be at a designated airport of entry, and Bahamas Customs and Immigration clear the aircraft on arrival, usually at the private terminal rather than the airline hall. Landing permits, where a trip needs them, are generally applied for after the trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule, and sometimes the timeline is dictated by the local airport authorities.
The airport matters as much as the aircraft here, because this is an archipelago. Nassau and Freeport handle anything up to airliner size around the clock. The Out Island airfields serving Abaco, Eleuthera, Exuma, Bimini, Andros and the southern islands vary a great deal in length, lighting and operating hours, and several of them suit turboprops and light aircraft better than jets. Tell us the property or the island rather than the airport code, and we will work back to what can actually land nearby. The operator confirms performance for the specific aircraft, load and conditions on the day.
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and the Bahamas sits in the track. That is a scheduling conversation rather than a reason to avoid the islands, and the planning starts well before the departure date. The aircraft operator and the Pilot in Command hold the decision on takeoff and landing. If any changes are required due to weather and passenger safety, you can expect your advisor to reach out as soon as we are aware.
